In this case, Santos Acevedo and the State Compensation Insurance Fund, on behalf of its insured, Del Mar Die Casting Company, both sought reconsideration from the Findings, Award and Order Re Home Care Issue, dated August 13, 2012. The Workers' Compensation Appeals Board granted the petition for reconsideration in order to allow sufficient opportunity to further study the factual and legal issues in the case. The Board also ordered that all further correspondence, objections, motions, requests and communications be filed in writing with the Office of the Commissioners of the Workers' Compensation Appeals Board.

The WCJ found applicant is in need of such services for 9 hours per day, and awarded reimbursement for home care services provided by members of applicant’s family, subject to reimbursement at specified rates, depending on the dates such services were rendered, since October 8, 2002. Defendant was also ordered to determine and provide reasonable and cost-effective home modifications for applicant’s safety and comfort.            Taking into account the statutory time constraints for acting on the petition, and based upon our initial review of the record, we believe that reconsideration must be granted in order to allow sufficient opportunity to further study the factual and legal issues in this case. We believe that this action is necessary to give us a complete understanding of the record and to enable us to issue a just and reasoned decision.
