Larry Lazar vs. Home Depot, Permissibly Self-Insured
In this case, Larry Lazar, an employee of Home Depot, filed a petition for removal to change the venue of his workers' compensation case from Anaheim to Riverside. The Workers' Compensation Appeals Board denied the petition for removal, finding that there was no good cause to change the venue and that Lazar would not suffer irreparable harm if the case stayed in Anaheim. The Board also noted that there were ways to enable Lazar to prosecute his case without requiring him to travel to Anaheim.
