ADJ10021120ADJ8949346(Van Nuys District Office)OPINION AND DECISION AFTER RECONSIDERATION We previously granted applicant’s Petition for Reconsideration to provide an opportunity to further study the legal and factual issues raised by the Petition to enable us to reach a just and reasoned decision. This is our Opinion and Decision After Reconsideration. Defendant seeks reconsideration of the Findings and Award (“F&A”) issued on May 26, 2016 by a workers’ compensation administrative law judge (“WCJ”). The WCJ found, in pertinent part, that decedent sustained injury arising out of and in the course of his employment (“AOE/COE”) as a police officer to his cardiovascular systems/hypertension resulting in death on May 9, 2013; that Candace, Ashley and Anthony, Jr. (“the dependents”) are entitled to death benefits per Labor Code! section 4702 in the amount of $250,000 to be paid to Candace Edwards and split between the dependents; and that burial expenses in the amount of $4,591.12 are to be paid to Candace Edwards. The WCJ ordered death benefits and burial expenses in accordance with her findings of fact.
